Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay, a nationalist leader who worked for the upliftment of the poor and Dalits, was born on September 25, 1916, in a village named Nagla Chandrabhan in UP. On September 25, 2023, on the occasion of the 107th birth anniversary of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay, he died on his 63rd birthday in Delhi. The feet-high statue is being unveiled by PM Modi. It is noteworthy that the occasion of his birthday has been named Antyodaya Diwas 2023.

Following these nationalist ideas of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay, every year September 25 started being celebrated as Antyodaya Day. And its beginning was announced by the Modi government at the center to be celebrated as Antyodaya Day on September 25, 2014, on the occasion of his 98th birth anniversary.

Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay came into contact with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh in 1937, from whom he received the patronage of the founder of the Sangh, Dr. Hedgewar. After studying, he decided to spend his entire life as a preacher of the Sangh.

On the occasion of Antyodaya Diwas in Hindi, on the instructions of the government, the skill development programme Aajeevika Kaushal was launched by the Ministry in the year 2014 as the National Rural Livelihood Mission, and later again in the month of November in the year 2015, its name was again changed to Dayal Antyodaya. The scheme was transferred to NRLM.

Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay is a name that is written in golden letters on the pages of history and can never be erased. Deendayal Upadhyay, who was born in the year 1916, is considered one of the prominent leaders of the Bharatiya Jan Sangh, which later gave rise to the BJP. 

Deendayal Upadhyay ji, who was a member of the Bharatiya Jan Sangh from 1953 to 1968, is known as a humanist, economist, journalist, and philosopher. A monthly magazine, Rashtra Dharma, was also released by Upadhyay ji. Later, he started Panchjanya, a weekly magazine, and a daily Swadesh. 

It is a matter of great sadness that on February 11, 1968, he was killed by robbers near Mughalsarai railway station in Uttar Pradesh. Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay got the opportunity to hold the post of President of Jan Sangh for only 43 days.
